What’s Up Online?

Merlyn Horton, Executive Director of Safe Online Outreach Society (SOLOS) is offering a FREE workshop focused on emerging trends in online youth culture, high risk activities online, and Internet safety tips and resources. This workshop focuses on providing tools for parents, foster parents and youth 13+ on Internet literacy and safety information. This presentation takes place at the Central Library (Alma VanDusen & Peter Kaye Rooms, Lower Level) on 350 West Georgia Street on Tuesday, March 6th from 7:00-8:30pm. Wanna Holiday Magic Tussie-Mussie?

What is a tussie-mussie?  It is a Victorian-style decorated cone where a small bouquet of flowers is carried inside. Kids that join the Holiday Magic Tussie-Mussie workshop on Wednesday, November 26th at 12:00pm in the Science Room at Bayview Community School will make a holiday tussie-mussie with glitter and candles!  It’s a wonderful holiday decoration for the home!  Refreshments will be provided during the two-hour workshop so sign up today for only $20 at the JKC office while space is still available!

May Is Child Care Month

The School Age Child Care Association (SACCA) is holding a conference in commemoration of Child Care Month.  The conference is on Friday, May 9th, 2008 at the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (WOSK Auditorium – 950 West 41st Avenue).  Although the conference is attended by Child Care providers, parents are encouraged to also attend.  Check out the “Conflict Resolution Skills” workshop by Karen Bondi.  Visit the SACCA website for details.
