Merlyn Horton, Executive Director of Safe Online Outreach Society (SOLOS) is offering a FREE workshop focused on emerging trends in online youth culture, high risk activities online, and Internet safety tips and resources. This workshop focuses on providing tools for parents, foster parents and youth 13+ on Internet literacy and safety information. This presentation takes place at the Central Library (Alma VanDusen & Peter Kaye Rooms, Lower Level) on 350 West Georgia Street on Tuesday, March 6th from 7:00-8:30pm. Howl Time!


Be sure to experience the annual Halloween Howl at Bayview Community School on Friday, October 28th from 6:30pm-8:30pm!  Marvel in the night’s magic and enchantment! Speaking About Silence


May 17th is symbolic due to its significance in the improvement of the status of gays and lesbians. International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) proposed this date for annually holding a day set aside to fight homophobia. Speaking About Silence is a campaign geared toward the sports world and will reach its highpoint on May 17th, 2010, on the International Day Against Homophobia. Get Famous, Vancouver!


Come be a part of a world record and join the World’s Biggest Yoga Class!  On Sunday, August 23rd @ 11:00am (doors at 10:00am) at UBC Thunderbird Stadium, in a fundraising effort to help keep kids active, the Vancouver Fitness Guide is sponsoring an event attempting to enter Vancouver into the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most people doing yoga in one place at the same time. Included with each $25.00 ticket will be an event beach towel and swag bag filled with event give-aways. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Athletics 4 Kids.


Behind the Scenes at JKC


Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at JKC?  On Monday, June 8th from 6:30pm – 8:00pm, join us at our Annual General Meeting (AGM)!  Our Program Coordinators, Administrative Coordinator, Program Manager and Executive Director will be presenting reviews on their programs and operations.  We invite parents to attend this event to network with staff and other JKC parents as well as to learn about our organization and the responsibilities of our Parent Advisory Committee (PAC).  The decisions we make are decisions made  by our parents so get to know our PAC and how we work together to make JKC an exciting place to be!
